Durga: Finding Courage and Comfort in Challenging Times with Sara Rose Page (online)

  • Here is an example of workshops I love to teach- I do not have one currently scheduled:

Durga’s myth is exactly the story that we need today. Durga, the Hindu goddess, was created to be the only force who could defeat the all-powerful and tyrannical demon Mahisha, who was destroying all life everywhere. Durga’s name means difficult-going or tough-going. She rides a tiger, representing her ferocity, courage and agency to create change. While wielding many weapons (symbolizing our many spiritual tools) with a fearless heart, her eyes are always serene. She is calm in the midst of the storm, capable of facing uncertainty, and she is devoted to upholding justice and preserving goodness in the world.

Come gather with Sara Rose and friends to hear Durga’s story, and dive deep into a practice to cultivate courage and embody serenity. We will practice poses to ignite our inner heat, balanced with calming and comforting poses for self-care. Following embodied practice, Durga’s story will provide inspiration to write and meditate on our own stories - individually and collectively. The power of storytelling is a way to understand and to heal our world and ourselves. The inter-weaving of myth, asana, mantra, writing and contemplation magnifies the power of each individual practice and supports our capacity to be resilient, strong and serene even in tough times.

(*mixed level yoga practice will provide challenge to ignite courage, and nurturing practices to create comfort and self-care)

Recent Graduates say…

“The YS Yoga Teacher Training Program creates this amazing well-rounded sphere that contains the foundation of not only building a strong asana practice but also philosophy and what yoga truly means to you as person, a yogi, and someone who is embarking on becoming a teacher. When Sara tells you at the beginning of training it is a life-changing experience, it truly is. And during this transformation you are supported in a very safe and loving atmosphere from everyone. From monkeying around, learning about Hanuman and the other stories that yoga philosophy is richly steeped in, to learning how to adeptly spot misalignment in your students, the teacher training program sets you up to become as great a teacher as you allow yourself to grow because the learning doesn’t stop when the program is over. Sara and Lisa give you so much knowledge for you to explore on your own, you pursue what is meaningful to you so that you may pass that great and beautiful knowledge on to everyone else that you meet.

Your eyes are truly opened to the greater, wider world.”

“Trying to sum up my experience of my yoga teacher training into a few sentences is near impossible! It has been so many things to me.

What I have most enjoyed was the ability to integrate the teachings into my day to day life. The teachings were used as tools to live a more full life. Sara and Lisa were able to hold a great amount of space and acceptance for all parts of myself and my experience throughout the training.

It was stimulating: emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually.

The training challenged and taught me to both witness and live more fully in my own truth as a student, teacher and person. My time in yoga teacher training enabled me to weave my experiences, practices and parts of myself together in a way bursting with creativity, heart and authenticity.”

Let’s Get Real: A 6 week Online Yoga and Writing Series

Formerly called “Step Into Your Greatness”, Let’s Get Real is Coming in January 2023!

How do we thrive in this difficult world?

MOVE | WRITE | CONNECT

Deepen your experience of yoga and philosophy through this course which weaves “traditional” yogic teachings with gems from current thought leaders, writers and healers such as Brene Brown, Susan Cain, Glennon Doyle and more.

Together we will enter the healing spaces of yoga, breath, myth, writing, and conversation. Expect a mixed level class- sometimes a stronger flow, and sometimes a soothing sequence to rest- where you will always be supported to go at your own pace. No sharing of your writing is ever required and we will spend time in break-out rooms as well as being in one group together.

Why Take this Class?

We all struggle and feel lost sometimes, we all have pain and joy and longing, and we need to know we are not alone. I mean, life is intense these days and we need outlets where we can not only let go of stress but where we can let down our guards and be real.

Weekly themes inspired by goddesses of the yoga traditions and modern “goddesses” who teach us we can do hard things (thanks, Glennon Doyle) will be our guides in practice, contemplation, writing, and conversation about the things that matter most in our lives.

The powerful and nourishing practices of yoga will immerse us the quiet needed to access our inner guidance. This unique group offers tools, rich conversation, and support for addressing the very real challenges of our personal and collective lives.

Your yoga practice will stir feelings and spark insights; writing will clarify and expand those insights, and speaking/sharing (ALWAYS optional) will empower and connect you in ways you may be surprised and amazed by!

This unique group lends support for moving the conversation of yoga forward as we address the very real challenges of our personal and collective lives.
